Thrivent Financial announces flood fund challenge
Organization to donate up to $25,000 for southern Minnesota flood relief

MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 5, 2010) - Thrivent Financial for Lutherans today announced it will contribute $1 for every $3 dollars raised, up to a maximum of $25,000 in support of flood recovery efforts in southern Minnesota. Through this process, Thrivent Financial seeks to generate $100,000 or more to support the short- and long-term needs of those affected by recent floods.

In Our Community...

Faith In Action of Wabasha County provides a corps of volunteers to aid the elderly or those in difficult life circumstances.  Put your faith into action to provide services such as transportation, shopping, chores, home repairs, visiting, care givers, Medicare insurance counseling. If interested call Faith In Action at 507-534-1244

Migrant Council - The Plainview Migrant Council serves migrants in need in our community.  Contact the Plainview Migrant Council Office at 507-534-9204

Youthlink - Mentorship is a Wabasha County program where adult volunteers/mentors spend 1-2 hours per week with youth ages 8-17.  Currently there are many kids who need mentors.  For more info., call Jessica, Program Coordinator (651-565-5171)

Thinking about tying (or un-tying) the knot? Is your relationship rock-solid and ready for marriage, or is it on-the-rocks?  Our pastoral staff  provides Christ-centered pre-marital counseling for couples.  Contact Pastor Hirssig or the church office for additional information.

Like to shop, and want to support our school?  Immanuel's P.T.L. offers scrip cards for sale (pre-paid shopping cards) as a fund-raiser for the school.  Many merchants are available to choose from.  $10 - $100 denominations.  Contact Nancy (507-534-3970), Jennifer (507-534-2937) or Patty (507-534-3178)

Scholarship Fund - Would you like to support Christian education, but don't know how?
The Board of Christian Education has established a scholarship fund to help individuals attend area LCMS schools (secondary, post-secondary and college).  The Board is currently seeking contributions that may also be matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.  The initial goal is $5000.  Contact the Church office for more details.

Be an Angel...  Immanuel's Secret Angel program allows you to help students continue to attend our school who may be short on financial resources.  Contact the church office with any questions you may have (507-534-3700).

Free Occasion Cards are provided  by Immanuel's senior citizens.  The Care Card rack offers care cards on various topics such as anxiety, suffering, stress, sympathy, get-well, etc.  The card rack is located in the church basement.  Please help yourself.
Japan Earthquake Relief-

On Friday, March 11, 2011, Japan experienced a catastrophic 8.9 magnitude earthquake, which spawned a deadly tsunami. According to news reports, the death toll is expected to rise to 10,000 people and thousands more are missing or injured. It also has caused tens of billions of dollars in property and economic losses.
