July 17 – Sixth Sunday after Pentecost

The Service of Matins + Holy Communion for the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost (July 17, 2022)

“The Good Portion” – Luke 10:38-42

When we strive to love and serve God, we can still fall short of what God wants us to do. Mary and Martha are both doing good things, but one chooses the good portion by which the rest of her day will be blessed. May we also strive to choose the good portion of God’s Word and start our week with His blessing!

July 10 – Fifth Sunday after Pentecost

The Divine Service for the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost (July 10, 2022)

“Do This and You Will Live?!?!” – Luke 10:25-37

Can we actually be saved by keeping the Law? Yes, Jesus says. But just one failure in life results in death. The reality is that we cannot keep the Law. But Jesus, our Good Samaritan, not only keeps the Law for us, but now He shares that holiness with us by grace through faith.

July 3 – Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

The Divine Service for the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost (July 3, 2022)

“Why We Do What We Do” – Galatians 6:1-10, 14-18

The Church is called to be faithful to Christ Jesus, crucified and risen for us to lead us through this sinful world unto the glorious kingdom to come. This is our focus, but we often get distracted, frustrated, and worried when it seems that being faithful doesn’t produce the results we want. But, it does produce the results God wants. That’s why Paul wrote to the churches of Galatia, and to all churches of all time to keep Christ front and center of why we do what we do.
