Feb 26 – First Sunday in Lent

The Divine Service for the First Sunday in Lent (February 26, 2023)

“Through One Man” – Romans 5:12-19

Lent is a time of “spring training” for the Christian. A time to remember that we face temptation every day. We dare not think too highly of ourselves, our goodness, even our faith, for we all too often give into temptation. Through one man, Adam, we all suffer from temptations and sin. Yet through one man, Jesus, we have the victory over any sin we fall into, failing to recognize temptation or just giving into it.

With the winter storm cancelling all services, Pastor Augustine recorded a brief service of the Word during a lull in the storm. May this service usher in the holy season of Lent to turn our hearts to the Lord.

The Divine Service for the Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany (February 5, 2023)

“Living Light” – Matthew 5:13-20

As Jesus shines His Word of truth, it shows us the power of God to save. Jesus says to let your light shine. Be a living light to the world around you. It seems impossible, but God tells you that when you are in Christ you ARE living light. Now, we just get to be what God has made us and do holy things to spread the light of Jesus.
