“Persistent Prayer” – Luke 18:1-8
Jesus teaches us to pray by means of a contrast of a heartless judge who gives in to the persistence of a widow to our loving Father who will certainly hear the prayers of His children and answer them as He knows best. We do not always understand or appreciate our Father’s answer to prayer, yet by grace through faith we accept it and keep on praying knowing that we will be delivered from all evil in the end.

The Service of the Rite of Ordination into the Office of the Holy Ministry for Paul “PJ” Aarsvold. Immanuel Lutheran Church humbly invites you to celebrate this special day in the life of the Church. From the Lutheran Service Book Agenda on the Rite of Ordination:
The Office of the Holy Ministry has been instituted by Christ Himself as a gift of His Church. Through the Christian congregation, as the holder of all churchly authority, God calls qualified men to fill this divinely established office and sends them as His ministers to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to administer the Sacraments publicly in the stead of Christ and by His command, with accountability both to God and to the Church. According to apostolic usage, ordination is the solemn, public confirmation of that call. (page 155)

For over 100 years, the stained-glass windows at Immanuel Lutheran Church have adorned the Gospel of Jesus Christ with light and beauty. But like everything in life, things start breaking or falling apart and need some repair. In January 2022 the congregation approved this repair project that has been in the works for several years as various contractors have noted cracked glass, loose lead, and soft wood in some places. The protective plexiglass on the exterior has also become discolored and prevents the windows from being clearly viewed by the outside world during evening services.
Financial Progress:
As of June 24, 2023, thanks to generous donations this month, the project is paid for! Thank you! This amount includes initial matching funds of $25,000. Thank you to all the donors and families who directed memorials to this project.

This proposal to restore and protect 15 stained-glass windows is in the amount of $107,718.
We must also be aware that additional costs could come up if the contractor, Associate Crafts/Willet Hauser of Winona, MN, finds other things broken or rotted that were not found on their inspection when putting together their bid. Thanks be to God, no significant items were found. Some wood was replaced on the west window, but we were not charged extra for it.
Project Update:
The window panels by the organ in the balcony have been removed and are at the shop in Winona for repairs. The company had initially planned to return in late July to reinstall those windows and continue with the rest of the window restorations. However, the severe weather in the midwest during the summer caused damages to church windows that Willet Hauser needed to address and caused our project to be delayed. The restoration work began on May 16 and was completed on June 11!

Sunday, October 31, 2021 was a joyous day of celebrating the gift of God in music as we rededicated our organ to the glory of God with a recital featuring Mr. Rodney Riese, the son of former Immanuel pastor, Rev. Rodney Riese. The service was recorded and linked below for your viewing a listening pleasure. The video sound is good, but like any instrument, to hear it in person is a richer, fuller experience.

Sermon: “Teaching the Wisdom of Christ” – 1 Corinthians 1:18-25
The foolishness of God is that He would send us Jesus to suffer and die on the cross for all sinners. Well, it’s foolish to the world. But this is the wisdom of God that show us how much He has loved us! What a great gift that we share in our Lutheran school every day, and have done so for 100 years! Praise the Lord for His wisdom that truly saves!
